The Rathore von Liechti family represents an alliance between two historic lineages: the Rathore dynasty of Jodhpur in India and the von Liechti family of Switzerland. This union brings together distinct cultural traditions rooted in service, civic responsibility, and respect for community.

 

The Rathore lineage traces its history to Maharaja Sir Sumer Singh of Jodhpur, whose reign is remembered for public service and stewardship of the people of the princely state. The von Liechti family descends from Laurentius von Liechti of Winterthur, Canton of Zurich, a politician and engineer known for his contributions to public life and infrastructure.

 

Today, the Rathore von Liechti family seeks to honor this shared inheritance through cultural preservation and social work. Their efforts are focused on education, inclusion, and community support. These activities are undertaken independently and without financial entitlement or state compensation; the family receives no privy purse or similar support.

 

Titles associated with the family’s history, including honorifics such as HRH, are used strictly in a cultural and historical context. They do not confer political authority, legal status, or social privilege, and are not intended as claims beyond their traditional significance.

 

The Council of Succession provides guidance to ensure that the family’s public work remains respectful of history, transparent in purpose, and aligned with contemporary values. Our role is advisory and custodial, helping safeguard the integrity of the traditions entrusted to us.
